As an artist, The Scream by Edvard Munch has always resonated deeply with me—its raw emotion and timeless symbolism . I wanted to create something that not only paid homage to that iconic masterpiece but also reflected the rich heritage and exceptional craftsmanship of the Asprey (Studio) brand.
Each piece was crafted using a pioneering controlled oxidization process, which accelerates the natural ageing of silver. This approach hadn’t been widely explored before, so I collaborated closely with Asprey Studio’s workshop manager to conduct a series of tests. The oxidization process revealed a spectrum of colors—deep blacks, earthy browns, vibrant blues, and even subtle reds. It became a medium in itself, adding depth and character to the work.
From this experimentation, we created ten sterling silver pieces, each engraved with the original Scream lithograph. This was no ordinary engraving—it was a meticulous, time-intensive process that only master craftsmen could achieve.
The physical works that are as evocative as they are beautiful. To complement these pieces, I wanted the digital realm to play a role as well. Each artwork is inscribed on Ordinals, ensuring the digital counterpart remains eternal. By linking each physical piece to its digital sibling through a parent-child inscription, we established a meaningful connection that bridges the original lithograph, Asprey Studio’s innovation, and the permanence of digital art.
This project has been a journey of discovery, pushing boundaries and redefining what’s possible in both physical and digital artistry.
